a fantastical recounting of the
    life and times of the
    Pillory Theatre.

    I think I should begin
    with my freshman orientation
whereupon a member of the Psych Dept.
    said:

"You will be lied to for the next four years."

    I listened carefully from beneath
    my Freshman Beanie Cap
    and took these words in...

    They made a deep
    and lasting
    impression on me.

    Immediately following the orientation
I was verbally abused by an upper class person
due to the tilt of my Beanie.

I think the proximity of these
    two events
    colored my impression
of what college was going to be like
    and led me directly to
    unsociable behavior...

    which went on four years.

    Parenthetically:

This is also why I like the film: "Ran"

    Sit close to the screen
    because
    it is in Japanese
    and everything is subtitled.

    Later
    on a second viewing
    much later

    you become absorbed
    into the
    cinematography.

    It's
    full of Buddhist images.

    You will be looking at
    " Lear"
    Japanese style.

    But better.

    Everyone Suffers.

    Especially the Innocent.

Having to deal with the reality of growing physically older sucks.
It could be quite depressing if viewed in the long term. This gets into
the Buddhist stuff. They have you constantly confront death. Their way
of saying "Get used to it, and get over it." It allows one to get on
with the tasks of day to day life, the things that you can actually do
something about. The knowledge informs choices, but does not drive
them. Their result is a more compassionate life. Good Karma and all
    that.

    My chiropractor cracked me yesterday.
    His name is Doctor Sam.
    He is a big guy
    and Orthodox.

He asked when am I moving out of
    the neighborhood...?

He says a lot of Orthodox
    are moving into Kew Gardens.

    I have noticed that.

And I am a threat to them
because of my bohemian life style.
    It scares them.

I said they don't party very much.

    He agreed.

Having fun scares them he replied.

    So much for orthodoxy
    informed choices
    and compassionate behavior
within and without of the tribe...
